Jimmy Crowther to make final appearance for Halifax Vandals before Australian adventure

Halifax Vandals will say farewell to Jimmy Crowther on Saturday, with the popular back set to move Australia with his family.

Crowther has been a permanent fixture at the Vandals for the past 16 years, having first played in the 2006/7 season and covered a variety of positions since then.

However he’s now set for a long-awaited adventure Down Under, with the move with wife Louise and daughter Libby and Isla having been initially delayed due to Covid.

With the 1st XV fixture against Wibsey having been called off due to the visitors having been unable to raise a team, Crowther will now captain a select XV against Cleckheaton 2nds.

All available players are welcome along (meet to 2pm) to play in the ‘club’ fixture, along Jimmy to have a run out with some of his team-mates from over the years.

A big crowd is expected to see Jimmy off - with the game also coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the club’s historic Yorkshire Silver Trophy win.

A large contingent of players and officials from the 1992-winning team are due up at Warley for a pre-match lunch.
