Halifax Vandals 2nds 7-7 Baildon 2nds

Dave French’s 50m solo effort was the highlight for Halifax Vandals as their evenly-contested clash against Baildon 2s was called off in the second half.

The former 2nd XV skipper scooped up a loose ball after 20 minutes and sprinted away for the try, which Franco Smith converted. The score had levelled the match for the 2s, with the visitors having profited earlier from poor defence to go 7-0 up.

However the enthralling clash was brought to a premature end when a Baildon player suffered a bang to the head and needed to be stretchered off.

The wet and windy conditions at Warley had made playing attractive rugby nigh-on impossible, however both sides gave it a good go - and a draw was a fair result
